Text Box:
The ScottiScopic TechnoJib is now being offered for sale to experienced owner-operators worldwide. With a complete in-house customizing machine shop, Riggin Design is able to utilize its ten years of development in the design and manufacture of telescopic cranes and remote heads to produce truly excellent equipment.
We are marketing specifically to professional owner operators because we believe they are in the best position to service the industry. We offer generous vendor financing.  We believe that any owner-operator with a 5+ year resume in the motion picture and video industry should have their own equipment.
The designer of the ScottiScopic, Scott Buckler, has worked as an owner operator in the crane and remote head business for 15 years and can offer one to one sales and technical support unmatched by any equipment manufacturer.
Telescopic cranes need to be developed by lengthy design and research principals. There are many integrated mechanical, electronic, and ergonomic parts that make the equipment function. The actual concept behind the offsetting weights and telescopic sections is very simple; the end result of a cohesive unit is not. As changes are made in one area, those changes interact with other areas. Companies that have brought to market their designs with just a few years of design may have inherent design flaws and will not be able to offer corrective action. The ScottiScopic is the result of 5 years of design and another 5 years of on-set proven reliability and we can offer on demand modifications.

Solo Mode Operation
The ScottiScopic TJ18 can be used with standard single man remote heads and the camera controls can be mounted on the back. To get a solo operated TechnoJib involves a specific design of back end length that will work in a manner that the operator can safely operate the jib and camera at the same time. The longer 24' version is recommended to be operated by a grip.

 To Owner-Operators:
All industries evolve. High definition camera are displacing 35mm movie cameras. No one believes that film production will be eliminated; but the fact is that High Definition will become the mainstay of production.
TechnoJibs have a similar future. The status quo of a fixed length crane will be replaced with TechnoJibs (and Technocranes) and those owner-operators who have this equipment will have a distinct advantage over their competition who do not. An increase in rental rates would be nice, but should not be a deciding factor. Whether you will be working five years from now will depend on your ability to provide telescopic action. In the motion picture camera crane market, only companies with telescopic cranes are commercially viable. The same will occur with the video market. If you have a Jimmy Jib or equivalent now, you will use that in rare instances. The TechnoJib will be your primary source of revenue.

Tech support:
One area that consistently comes to my attention concerning equipment sales is the tech support that will be offered. For US sales, operators will take comfort in dealing with a US company. The designer, Scott Buckler, is from the technical side of film production. Knowing that when you get on the phone with a question, you will be speaking with a very knowledgeable individual who comes from the rental side of the business. Getting the problem solved quickly is the only appropriate goal. My name is on the side of that crane. When you get a ScottiScopic, you get Scott Buckler. He has been in the business for 25 years and will be in the business for 25 more years. When you buy generic equipment, don't expect that level of commitment.
